MPs have rejected the assisted dying bill. They had previously backed it twice in November 2024 and June 2025, but have now decided against backing it again. MPs voted 286 against the bill and 270 in favour. There was a majority of 16 MPs against the bill. It means the bill has fallen and will not progress through parliament. It would need to be reintroduced for a third time - or a different bill drawn up – for the issue of assisted dying to begin being debated in parliament again.
