In 2003, the US invaded Iraq and toppled its dictator Saddam Hussein. The last US troops only recently left Iraq, and the Iranian regime is ready to fill the void with Iranian-backed militias undermining the Iraqi state. And, in the current US-Israeli war with Iran, Iraq has once again become a battleground, caught between the US and Iran, and under attack from all sides. How did Iraq end up here?
