Southeastern Queensland and northeastern NSW are bracing for severe thunderstorms after a weekend of wet weather on the Gold Coast. Hail, heavy rainfall and strong gusts are forecast for coastal areas from Coffs Harbour up to the Queensland border, while inland areas such as Toowoomba and Chinchilla are also likely to be affected. The Bureau of Meteorology’s Jonathan How says areas near rivers and creeks are under threat of flooding due to existing saturation from previous rainfall.
