The Bank of England has held the base interest rate at 3.75%. It's a move that was widely expected by markets, particularly after inflation figures released yesterday showed a rise from 2.9% to 3.1% in the year to August. The Bank has chosen to hold despite a big moment in the US last night, where the Federal Reserve announced its first rate hike in three years. Six members of the monetary policy committee voted to hold, while three voted for a hike.
