Students in Indonesia clash with police amid haze protests

Hundreds of students and activists took to the streets in Jakarta and Makassar on Tuesday (Oct 20), demanding stronger government action against forest and land fires that have caused widespread haze and disrupted daily life in parts of Indonesia. In Makassar, protesters scuffled with police as tensions flared during the demonstrations, which came as President Prabowo Subianto marked his second year in office. Protesters accused authorities of failing to crack down on those responsible for the fires, with some calling for local and central governments to declare the crisis a national disaste
