Japan is looking to a wider range of energy sources to strengthen its resilience to geopolitical disruptions, according to Hitoshi Okawa, senior executive vice president of INPEX, Japan’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company. Speaking to CNA’s Roland Lim at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Okawa points to liquefied natural gas supplies from Australia and a major project being developed in Indonesia as helping diversify supplies beyond the Middle East.
