Malaysia's Anwar calls for stronger ASEAN action on haze as hazardous air quality returns

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for stronger ASEAN collaboration to tackle transboundary haze. He said the current regional mechanism needs to be reviewed due to the impact of air pollution on public health. He added that Malaysia will not protect its firms if Indonesia finds them responsible for fires. Air quality in Sarawak's Serian town has returned to hazardous levels, a day after the emergency declaration was lifted. The air pollutant index reached 305 this morning, disrupting schools, businesses and outdoor events across Sarawak. Melissa Goh reports from Kuching.
